Big Ben pipes are manufactured by Elbert Gubbels & Zonen of Roemond in the Netherlands. It is the only briar pipe factory in Holland; However, we must not forget that clay pipes were being manufactured in Holland as early as the 17th century and that this country was famous together with England for the construction of these pipes. The Gubbels family began its activity in the pipe sector at the beginning of the last century with a simple tobacco shop, then it became a real pipe factory between the 30s and 40s and now continues its activity with its third generation. Big Ben was for years one of the most cutting-edge and modern factories in Europe. the factory has gone from artisanal production to an industrial activity.
