How much of the pleasure of smoking depends on the pipe and how much on tobacco? Difficult to answer. How difficult it is to give advice in a matter so tied to individual tastes.

Aroma

It really depends on taste, but those that are too aromatic can become "tiring".
“Sweets” are more irritating.

Cut

Medium-large is recommended.
That which is too thin burns quickly and heats (pipe and tongue).

storage

The right level of humidity is important.
Always store in airtight jars.
English mixtures in airtight boxes are almost always too humid: leave them out in the air for a few hours.
To moisten a dry tobacco, spread it on a sheet of paper and wet it with a sprayer. A slice of apple or potato, or convenient humidifying stones or wafers, to place in the container is useful.
Humidification with liqueurs avoids possible mold but is always also a flavoring. Keep tobacco away from heat sources and perfumes.

Mix

All the chopped products on the market are already blends.
However, everyone can have fun creating new ones according to their own tastes.
Prepare in small quantities.
Weigh and keep note of weights.
Mix compatible cuts (the fine and the granular do not go together). Always let it "ripen" a little so that the different aromas can blend.

The envelopes

They serve the tobacco needs of the day.
They must be waterproof.
There are many things that are more difficult to explain than to do.
Smoking a pipe is one of them.
You have to try and not give up when faced with some small initial difficulties.
Which then the pipe repays a thousand times over.
It is useless here to extol its virtues, to say that the pipe is the only serious, true, clean, pleasant way of smoking.
