HISTORY

In 1968, Svend Bang, after working for a short time for W.Ø.Larsen, opened his own business producing pipes bearing his name. Two Danish craftsmen, Per Hansen in 1970 and Ulf Noltensmeier in 1971, began working for Bang, who in 1984 handed over the business to them. Within a short time the two craftsmen were successful thanks to their fine products, and the name "Bang" (Sven Bang had died in the meantime) is now counted among the top ten most famous brands in the world. Ulf and Per's pipes are not born with a pre-established shape at the start, but follow the trend of the grain of the log, creating small works of art with the fundamental characteristic of "good smoke". All S.Bang pipes are small jewels of perfection, everything is taken care of in the smallest detail, from drilling, sandblasting, coloring (with always contrasting colors) to polishing. Hansen and Noltensmeier are considered the exotic among Danish freehand artists. Their pipes are even compared to the sculptures of Henry Moore. Today their pipes are now a rarity, sought after by the greatest collectors.
