 In 1817, brothers John and Thomas McClelland obtained a license for whisky production, and in 2017, after 200 years, the Bladnoch distillery began a new chapter, with its stills resuming distillation. After being mothballed in late 2009 and placed in administration in 2014, Bladnoch was acquired in 2015 by a group led by Australian businessman David Prior and Gavin Hewitt, former CEO of the Scotch Whisky Association.

Bladnoch is the southernmost distillery in Scotland, located in the town of the same name just a few kilometers from the English border. The history of the distillery is unique, having been bought twice by Irish entrepreneurs, an unusual occurrence for a Scottish distillery.
